UVNET changed its name to Tier Four

UVNET today announced that it has changed its name to Tier Four.

The name change follows UVNET's recent announcement that it is in the process of opening a new colocation facility in Salt Lake City, Utah and is part of a larger strategic repositioning.

"When I founded UVNET in 2003, the company was focused on the Utah County market. The UVNET name identified our product and our market well. However, three years later we have outgrown the name. Our prouduct and service offerings have matured, and as our customer base has become increasingly diverse. In a few months we will have facilities in both Utah Valley and Salt Lake City. We have refined our service offering and are now focuesed only on colocation services. We have customers in more than 10 states. The time has come for a new name." said Erich Pletsch, President of Tier Four.

The Tier Four name was selected based on input from customers and prospective customers. The name Tier Four represents the company's commitment to compliance with colocation industry standards, including the emerging data center classification system. At this time Tier Four does not have any data center facilities which meet the stringent Tier IV specification as set forth by ANSI. However, Tier Four hopes to be able to provide facilities in the future which do comply with the standard.

Along with the name change, Tier Four has made several other changes related to branding. Most notably, Tier Four has abandoned the "Posilink" name. Posilink will no longer be used to identify Tier Four's network. The network will bear the Tier Four name. Tier Four will also expand its use of the phrase "utah colocation" as a method of identifying Tier Four's commitment to the Utah market and Tier Four's unique way of providing colocation services, which is now being copied by many of Tier Four's local competitors.

"We are very excited about the new name that we have chosen. By choosing a name which represents its market, customers and mission both now and in the future Tier Four has improved its position in the market now and has established its direction for the future. For those who are familiar with the colocation market, there can be no question of who Tier Four is or what Tier Four does." Erich Pletsch, President, Tier Four, Inc.
