Tier Four Network

Tier Four operates one of the largest and most stable privately held networks in the western United states. Hundreds of companies and millions of end users rely on Tier Four's world-class network every day. High quality equipment, redundancy and well trained professionals are the foundation of Tier Four's Network.

Cisco Powered NetworkTier Four's network is comprised entirely of high-end Cisco routers and switches. Cisco is recognized as the world leader in communications equipment. Tier Four uses modern equipment capable of supporting current and emerging standards such as IPv6 and multicast content delivery. Each router or switch in Tier Four's network is capable of processing at least 320 Gbps of throughput. All equipment is interconnected in redundant configuration and spare parts are kept on hand.

Tier Four currently purchases transit from three of the world's largest backbone providers with 3 Gbps of available connectivity. Tier Four also maintains a multi-gigabit, private network between its facilities with the ability to provide a minimum of three network egress points at every site. Tier Four's private peering mesh extends to many customers who purchase IP Transit.

Tier Four's current backbone providers include:

  • Verizon (Formerly UUNET and MCI Worldcom)
  • Level3
  • Cogent Communications

The network operations team constantly monitors the health and status of Tier Four's network. Utilizing sophisticated monitoring systems Tier Four's network team is generally able to detect and avoid problems long before they develop into service affecting issues. Members of the network operations team are available 24/7 to assist customers with any type of issue.
