Orem Data Center

Tier Four's Orem data center was built with stability and security in mind.

More than $3.2 million have been spent to date on the facility. It features raised floors, redundant cooling systems, redundant power systems, dry-chemical fire suppression systems, multiple network entry points, state of the art access control and surveillance systems, a 24/7 manned security post and a 24/7 manned NOC.

Climate control in the data center is provided by down flow air conditioning units, humidity controls, and air filtration systems.

Two Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) provide redundant power to the data center providing battery backup in the event of an emergency. The UPS systems are further backed by a dual engine Diesel generator, which has sufficient capacity to support the entire building fully loaded in the event of a power failure for an extended period of time.

The building meets current seismic requirements. It is above grade, far above the water table and far from a flood plain or liquefaction zone. In order to further mitigate any risks of flooding, restrooms on the floors above the data center were removed, and water sensitive devices have been located within the data center. Additionally, the old fire sprinkler system was taken out and replaced by a modern FM200 dry action fire suppression system, which triggers independently for fires above or below the floor.

Physical security for the data center is provided by three layers of card-key access including a biometric scan, as well as motion detectors, security guards, and around the clock video surveillance.

The Orem data center has access to three fiber providers onsite which include: XO Communications, Qwest, and ELI. Five Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are also available.
